Timely Guidance for Behavioral Health Professionals from a Popular Presenter
On Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from 8:45 a.m. to 12 p.m., Dr. Jeffrey Bernstein will present the final workshop of the FCP Fall 2021 Professional Education Workshop Series. He returns to the FCP to present Practical Counseling Strategies and Interventions for Children and Teens Struggling with Pandemic-Related Stressors.
This timely webinar provides crucial child and teen development information for positive post pandemic functioning. Attendees will learn highly effective, practical counseling strategies and interventions for children and teens who are struggling to transition out of the pandemic related stressors. Topics to be addressed include generalized anxiety, avoidance-related problems, sadness and depression, schoolwork resistance and shutdowns. This webinar will also address the most effective strategies for anger management in children and teens.
At the end of this activity, participants will be able to:
1. State the neuropsychological considerations for children and teens who have trouble regulating emotions and the related possible longer-term impacts of the pandemic.
2. Describe the advantages of combining mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and positive psychology interventions for struggling children and teens.
3. List seven common distorted thoughts for teens and how they trigger anxiety, depression, and anger in a post pandemic era.
4. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of online therapeutic approaches when working with children and teens (pre and post pandemic).
Presenter:Â Jeffrey Bernstein, Ph.D., is a nationally recognized parent coach, author, and psychologist. He has over 30 years of experience providing child, adolescent, couples, family counseling and coaching. He completed his post-doctoral internship at the University of Pennsylvania Counseling Center and holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, FCP’s Professional Education Workshops will be offered in an online format, featuring a livestream Q&A with the presenter. Registrants will receive instructions on how to receive CE credits.
